At the beginning of the work
Oh God eternal and almighty, Lord Jesus Christ, to You I dedicate this work of mine at its beginning. Please accept it graciously, strengthen its virtues, heal its flaws: may it serve to the good of souls, the exaltation of the Holy Church and the confounding of her enemies, to my own salvation and to Your greater glory,
For You are the true Light who illuminates and sanctifies all things, and the whole Creation sings praise to You unto ages of ages,
And You are likewise the true Night, Darkness without a trace of evil and Mystery without a trace of falsehood: a healing, holy, infinite night, the true Being: may You lead our ways to You. accept us and cleanse our wounds: in You shall we rest, in You shall we rise, to attain true joy and everlasting peace. Amen.
In Latin:
Amen.
